"Great care from a wonderful nurse"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / General Surgery (wards 63, 64, 65, 66,& 67)

(as a parent/guardian),

Sometimes it’s the little things that really help. David at GRI canulated my daughter. He was an absolute star, taking time beforehand to show us exactly how the canula functions in terms of insertion and how it sits within the arm itself. Being shown this small bit of equipment (remarkable design, tbh) helped my daughter and I understand the process exactly. He was really friendly & generous with his time and knowledge, and responded to our curiosity and our questions.

David’s openness helped greatly with putting my daughter at ease. As patients, we so often really want to know how things work & why they work in the way they do. It helps the patient feel like they know what’s going on, even though hospitals are by their nature a chaotic place to be. Thanks, David: little things like communicating the little stuff can make the big stuff less scary.

Dear Mum20

Thank you so much for your feedback regarding the care and support you received from David. I agree that the ‘little things can really help’ and I am pleased that David took the time to show you how the cannula works and was able to put your daughter at ease.

Your feedback will be shared with David, and I am sure he will be delighted with your comments.

I hope your daughter is feeling better.

Best wishes

Nicole
