I have recently been discharged from the eating disorder service based in the SHSCT in Armagh City. Although, unfortunately, I was unable to break the cycle and beat my eating disorders at this time, after nearly 2 years of outpatient care. I started off slow, however after a couple of months I started improving and challenged my eating disorder.
However, in the last couple of months I was unable to resist bad habits with so much pressure going on in my life and began to go in reverse and ultimately feel I got worse. In saying that, this is no reflection of the Eating Disorder staff and team and the care I received from them. They provided so much advice and guidance which I understood and individualised the care to my life and my needs, as one size does not fit all. Sadly, I just couldn't bring myself to fully implement it into my life at this time with so much of life's pressures at the minute, however they reassured me that when I was ready I could try seek help from them again in the future when there was more stability in my life.
I have to give a huge mention to Pauline, the nurse who delivered almost all of my care and who supported me so much through the process. I know that without her I would be in such a darker place in my life right now, even though I still wasn't able to fully beat it. Thanks again so much !
