We have been under the enhanced support team and everything was OK, the only issue we have had is the long wait for my husband's surgery. My husband has dementia and he has good days and bad days. On a bad day he sometimes asked me where we live, and on good days he makes his own breakfast & lunch, we only have a sandwich at lunchtime.
He had been having terrible urine infections and he spent some time in Ninewells Hospital for a few weeks, then they sent him home. I'm pleased because he is not a reader or a crossword man he likes his telly, so he was just wandering around the ward.
Anyway, when he went back into hospital they discovered what was giving him all the reoccurring UTIs, it was his foreskin was closing and causing the infections. The doctor in Ninewells said he will go to Perth for a wee op which will only take 10 mins. We had an appointment booked for early Feb and my grandson took the day off to take us over to the hospital, we had waited nearly 3 months for this although they did tell us it was emergency.
Anyway, the day before the appointment at 4 pm we got a call saying the appointment/surgery could not go ahead as they did not have enough beds. So we are still waiting, and when I asked the person on the phone how long will it be for another appointment they said it could be 2-5 weeks. I told them I know it's not your fault and I am not moaning at all.
So we are waiting for a date to get him in for the op.
