I would like to thank the NHS 111 service in the Vale of Glamorgan and the minor injuries clinic at Barry Hospital for your very prompt and efficient service. Last month I was bitten by a rat that I was attempting to help escape my flat before my cat caught it. I wasn't sure what the protocol was for this, but it had bled quite a lot, so I called 111 and was immediately directed to a minor injuries unit 15 minutes away to receive a tetanus booster and antibiotics. I had never used 111 as an adult and had no idea what would happen or how long it would take, but the whole event from phone call to treatment was within 2 hours, for which I was very grateful, as I was going on a work trip the next day.
(The rat continued to evade myself and 2 cats for a further 3 days, completely unscathed, after which I managed to humanely trap and release it).
"Thanks 111!"
