"Amazing care after spinal surgery"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as a service user),

I was transferred to ward 64 after 30 hours presenting to ED with back / leg pain. I thought I would be sent home with analgesia so the shock when I was told I needed emergency spinal surgery.

The staff in ward 64 were all amazing from the moment I was admitted. Before I went for my surgery I was anxious to say the least, Katie was just amazing. She reassured me & listened to me. I will never forget how she treated me that night.

Post op all the staff in the ward were lovely, I always felt bad pressing my buzzer for help but it was never a problem to the staff. I want to also mention the theatre staff, the Anaesthetist (I cannot remember her name) & the Anaesthetic Nurse William I'm sure - they were so reassuring & listened to me as I voiced my concerns about a GA.

This was my first time in theatre & having a GA so I was understandably worried / anxious, I felt no question was left unanswered & felt I could ask anything even if I thought it was stupid. It meant a lot that the staff listened to me & took time with me.

Thank you for such a kind message. It is so heartening to read that you had such a positive experience in the INS.

I will share this feedback with the team who I am sure will be thrilled to read it.

Thank you once again.

Thank you for getting in touch and providing such lovely and positive feedback on the care you received. Your words will mean so much to Ward 64, Katie, the theatre team, the anaesthetist and the anaesthetic nurse William; and I will ensure this is shared with them.

Best wishes,

Pamela
