"The staff were all so pleasant and caring"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Ward A4 Medical

(as a service user),

I attended A4 earlier this week, being sent there from the GP with a new diagnosis of type one diabetes . The care from the second I arrived was excellent, we were met by Natalie, Peter, Karen and Dom, who were so reassuring to me. My blood glucose and ketones were very high, which was very frightening, but I felt in such safe hands . I spent one night on the ward and got home the next day. I’d like to thank Leanne who was so kind when I was feeling overwhelmed, and Sarah and Hannah, who were also so lovely. Despite being a really busy ward, the staff were all so pleasant and caring .

Hi Maisy22.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post this wonderful feedback about the staff and care you received during your recent admission to A4. I will ensure it is shared with all the staff, and those specifically mentioned. Staff welcome feedback from patients, and they will be delighted to hear such positive comments about the care they deliver and the service they provide.

I am sure you were very anxious with regards to your new diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes, but it is reassuring to know that staff were caring, empathetic and took time to ensure you received immediate treatment, and education too allow you to manage your condition. It is great to hear that you didn't have to stay long in hospital!

I am sure it will take a wee while to adjust to living with diabetes, however, you can be assured the Diabetic Team will support you with this.

Best wishes and thank you again.
