"It feels like entering a coalmine"

About: Victoria Hospital / Appliance & Orthotics

(as a service user),

I have lived with the after effects of having had polio as a baby. I am now 72 years of age. I wear orthopeadic shoes and have to attend the orthotic specialist unit at the Victoria whenever I need adaptations and/or new shoes. This department is based in two big cupboards with no windows.

I am very satisfied with the assistance/advice/shoes I get there. The Victoria Hospital has recently opened a state of the art new orthopeadic centre. It seems as though the planners forgot to include the orthotics section. Please rectify this. It feels like entering a coalmine - ie never any sunlight.

Dear Hoen825,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the orthotics department, I am pleased to hear that you are very satisfied with the care you have received.

I agree that the rooms we have are too small, with Orthopaedics relocating we have secured new rooms - with windows! Some work is required to make it suitable for our use but we look forward to welcoming to our new space and hope you find it more suitable.

Thanks again for sharing your story,

Lyndsay
