"Made me feel comfortable"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Day Surgery University Hospital Monklands / Ear, Nose & Throat (Ward 9)

(as the patient),

I attended for a septorhinoplasty. The care I received from everyone was outstanding. I was extremely nervous and worried, however was made feel comfortable by the team. Unfortunately I can’t remember names, however it was the anaesthetist and two member of staff in particular on night shift in the day surgery unit  that made my stay a better experience.

The 2 ladies made me feel comfortable every time I got upset again, I appreciated that a lot, I was unable to wear my glasses and they were extremely helpful whenever I had to get up and about.

The surgery went great and I can now breathe properly which I’m very grateful for.

The full care was excellent and can’t be faulted, the only issue I did have was that the day time staff were not as helpful or comforting as the night staff.

Dear KH2003,

Thank you for sharing your experience at University Hospital Wishaw, Day Surgery.

It can be a worrying time attending hospital for a procedure. I am so pleased to hear that the staff reassured you and made you feel at ease when you were nervous. I am glad your surgery has gone well and you are now able to breathe better. I will ensure that we pass your kind words and praise to the staff involved. It will give them a real boost.

I am sorry that the day staff were not as helpful or comforting as the night time staff. Unfortunately our services are very busy at the moment, however they should still be helpful and comforting to all patients. I will feed this back for reflection and learning going forward.

I hope your recovery continues to go well.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
