In early June I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy at home, supported by two amazing midwives, Laura and Kylie.
I'd actually wanted a home birth since reading another care opinion about Karen (who was my original home birth midwife) and it turned out to be everything I hoped it would be. Throughout my pregnancy I was extremely well cared for by two lovely midwives Karen and Jenni. My home birth was supported by two other lovely midwives Laura and Kylie.Although I wasn't overly familiar with either Kylie or Laura, my partner and I agree it was like letting family in to our home during my labour and the care I received was outstanding. Both Kylie and Laura were discreet (with fetal monitoring), yet encouraging throughout my labour and made sure my partner was involved where possible. I had a tear which Laura was able to stitch in the comfort of my own home - and she did an amazing job!
I'm so glad I decided to have a home birth for my first baby and would not hesitate to recommend having a home birth. I hope there is continued investment in what is a truly wonderful service and team.
It's clear to see the whole home birth team love their jobs - we even met the lovely Audrey over the weekend when she came to do routine checks - and it's no wonder they are an award winning team. NHS Ayrshire & Arran should be so proud of this wonderful team!
