"Communication with consultants is terrible"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 2 North Respiratory medicine Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I have been in since the end of May, I spent 2 days in A&E. The nurses are all great, The food was okay at the start, now I am just fed up with it. I am now having to get sandwiches brought in as I just cannot eat the same meals twice a day for a month.

The communication with the nurses and nursing assistants is good, however with the consultants it is just terrible. The consultants will just not talk to me. I have a meeting today with the ward sister, ward manager and consultant to discuss why I am not being told anything, no one has a clue what's going on.

The facilities aren't great, the showers are broken and toilets are always really dirty.

Dear Niamhh1

We are sorry you had to wait 2 days in A/E, the hospital is experiencing delays in getting admissions up to the inpatient wards.

Kind regards

Paul Smyth

Head of Service (ED)
