Early Monday morning my 12y.o. Daughter had worsening abdo pain and was getting agitated that she could not pass urine.

We attended Edinburgh Children’s Hospital A&E and were attended instantly . The receptionist, nurse and Doctor were all very pleasant.

A diagnosis was quickly reached and antibiotics were issued straight away. We left after only 45 minutes.

2 days later we received a call from a doctor at ESCH to let us know that we needed to change antibiotics and that our local GP practice would be emailed with instructions re prescription.

Next day we received a call from gp practice to let us know the prescription had been sent to our local pharmacy and that morning we collected it. My daughter is much better.

This chain of events was outstanding service with absolutely no flaws and we wanted to pass on our thanks to all of the teams involved in this process. Incredible NHS - thank you.

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us on Care Opinion. I'm really sorry that your daughter was in so much pain and had to attend A&E, but am glad she is now feeling much better.

I'm pleased to hear that she was seen straight away by staff and received a diagnosis and antibiotics quickly after. It is also great that the change of medication was dealt with so professionally and promptly.
