I have recently had major hip surgery and was an inpatient at ward 10a to recover.
My orthopedic surgeon, Mr Jenkinson, is truly a one of a kind doctor. Since I met him last year, he finally gave me a diagnosis of a medical condition I was born with and took 36 years to diagnose. Every time I see him, he has been open, approachable, chatty, funny, kind and I always felt very, very calm in his presence - he has been a great, calming influence on me throughout my care. All of this went a long way to me being ready for surgery. He also did an amazing job of the surgery and visited me afterwards and was really there for me. There are truly no words to explain just how great a doctor he has been.
When it comes to the nurses and team on ward 10a, I could not have asked for more - they were truly incredible in my surgery aftercare. They really looked after me, above and beyond, gave me great banter and chats, and worked so tremendously hard on the ward. I was honestly in awe of how much they do and care. A huge special shout out goes to Lisa, who made my experience so good, I couldn't have gotten through one of my toughest nights without her.
"Excellent care from surgeon and nurses"
