"Feeling let down"

About: County Hospital Louth / Physiotherapy

(as a service user),

Saw a staff member who didn't listen to my needs or concerns. They  made me feel like I was a burden, like I was fat & lazy. I felt no different after 4 sessions, which I said, but was told there was nothing more they could do.

On the 4th session I was told to  educate myself on healthy eating & join a gym.

I said I was finding that the exercises were causing me more pain rather than helping in any way; they said not to be afraid of pain & to carry on!
They seemed to be trying to go by the text book way and not adapt a programme to suit my actual needs. All cases need to be treated as individual & for that persons needs.
After 3 sessions they asked me what I hoped to achieve by coming so I said to reduce my pain. They said they didn't  think it was worth seeing me again but agreed to 1 more session, at which they said there wasn't anymore they could do for me.
I left after 4 sessions, pretty much in the same place, pain wise, as when I'd started. I wasn't even asked if I felt better.
I felt very let down, upset & made to feel almost like I was making it up. A lot of the things I was concerned about were dismissed,  for example, saying that lots of people have slipped discs just get on with it and it doesn't bother them. Even though I'd been suffering with mine for more than a year, they kind of made out that I should just get on with it & forget about the pain.
Maybe it was lack of experience but I felt very let down & left in the same amount of pain that I arrived in.
