"My son is so happy - his face lights up"

About: Hawthorns Adult Centre

(as a parent/guardian),

I would like to praise the staff Sarah and Emily at the above unit where my son attends.

My son has downs and is in his late twenties his communication skills are reduced and his sense of danger limited.

But he loves attending the unit 5 days a week

Sarah and Emily are brilliant going way above the job description, they are kind creative and make sure is time there is enjoyable with various activities. I can't thank them enough, they organised various outings walks & xmas dinner over December.

My son is so happy and his face lights up when you mention Sarah and Emily.

Ps My son is also part of the Makaton (together with his sister and other clients) Hawthorns/focus group singing hands choir who have performed at primary schools nursing homes and Town light switch on.

The staff, Lisa, Tina and Sarah have given up a lot of their free time to supervise and transport them to various venue they are a credit to the Mental health Directorate and the Northern Trust.

In a time when everybody is criticising the NHS I thought it would nice to praise all the above staff.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful feedback. It is so great to hear about the difference Hawthorn's staff have made and the delight your son experiences when attending the service. I will be sure to pass this on to the staff mentioned.
