About: General practices in Lanarkshire ICST (Community Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) / ICST (Community Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) Hamilton NHS Lanarkshire / Palliative Care St Andrew's Hospice (Lanarkshire)

(as a service user),

My husband, who was in his mid forties recently passed away after almost 3yrs of having pancreatic cancer. In the latter stages he received support at home from the Hamilton ICST community nurses (often the wonderful Ami who was so upbeat and friendly), Jill the palliative care nurse specialist and Dr Mannis. Each of these came into our home and could not have done more to support us at the most difficult time and I’m profoundly grateful. 

For end of life care my husband was admitted to St Andrews Hospice. Staff there delivered and demonstrated the most compassionate care I have ever experienced. Every single person we encountered was so kind, patient and warm. They treated my husband so gently and ensured he had a peaceful and pain free passing. I really cannot thank them enough for how they looked after him, but also how they looked after me.

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback in relation to your husbands care for both ICST Community nursing team as well as our specialist palliative care teams on care opinion. I am glad that you and your family had such a positive experience during this very difficult and challenging time and that the teams support alleviated some of your concerns. Please be assured that I will share your lovely comments with the specialist community palliative care team as well as directly with ICST nurses and in particular Ami and Jill. I appreciate that this is a very difficult time for you and your family and our thought are with you all.
