"Extended visits to EPC"

About: South West Acute Hospital / Early Pregnancy Clinic

(as a service user),

Attended EPC Enniskillen due to a delayed miscarriage. Suzie is absolutely fantastic can't sing her praises enough, she has not an easy job. It's  not the 1st time I've been needing this service.

Furthermore, I feel the system is wrong. Leaving women waiting for weeks to complete a miscarriage when all they want from the word go is surgical intervention is not right. Being through it before makes you more aware of what care you want. In my view, surgical intervention should be offered from the first appointment like in other trusts. It is mentally draining enough to be going through a miscarriage without it lingering on for weeks upon weeks.

Not to mention the entry to EPC! Having to walk in and out through women's health where there are women waiting on scans/appointments is not the way we should have to enter and exit when going through such a harrowing time. Alternate access should be the case.

Thank for you posting your experience it is with feedback that we can review our current services. Firstly I want to offer you my condolences on the loss of your pregnancy.

I want to reassure you our aim is discuss all available choices for the management of miscarriage to enable woman to make informed choices according to their clinical needs,

I am truly sorry if you feel this did not happen in your case. However I will relay your Thanks to Suzie for her help and support to you at this very difficult time she will appreciate this kind feedback.

I acknowledge it can be difficult for a lot of woman to have to present through the Woman’s Health department at this difficult time for varying reasons, however due logistics, safety and the need to ensure the appropriate specialists/equipment are available, Woman Health services are combined.

I will highlight your feedback to the team.

Please feel free to make contact with me if there is anything further you wish to discuss
