"The most caring and professional team I have come across"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Xrays and Scans

(as the patient),

I am very claustrophobic and any form of scan is a big deal for me, I am unable to do an MRI scan ( last time I had over 15 years ago was done under general anaesthetic which is not an option nowadays).

I recently presented at the CT pod in the QEUH and by the time I got there had worked myself up to a very nervous state - this is irrational I fully understand, however out of my control.

Experience has taught me that the staff doing the scan can make all the difference, some don't understand my issues, however on this occasion I want to call out Neil and Danielle who were nothing short of the most caring and professional team I have come across.

Neil ( I am hoping that is his name) was so patient with ensuring that my PICC line could be used and he explained every  step of the way which was really appropriate as I was kept informed. Danielle explained to me ( in response to my questions) where I was  positioned in regards to the  scanner and how long the scan would  take which was a great help to me.

I cannot thank these professional, caring and empathetic members of the NHS who are an asset to the organisation.

Dear Eddie53!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We understand how challenging it can be to undergo medical procedures, especially when facing claustrophobia.

Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we're grateful for the opportunity to recognise the outstanding care provided by Neil and Danielle during your recent visit to the CT pod at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

It's heartening to hear that Neil and Danielle went above and beyond to ensure your comfort and understanding throughout the process.

We're pleased to hear that Neil took the time to address your concerns about your PICC line and kept you informed every step of the way. Similarly, Danielle's clear explanations and responsiveness to your questions undoubtedly helped alleviate some of your anxiety during the scan.

I will be happy to pass on your thanks to the team especially Neil and Danielle who I'm sure will be touched to receive such glowing feedback about their service.

I hope your feeling a lot better and recovering well back at home.

Kind regards

Kevin

Hi Eddie53,

Thank you for the feedback on your experience when attending the QEUH CT Pod for your scan. A lot of patients suffer from claustrophobia and those who have experienced MRI then have the worry of CT, great to hear your CT went well and has hopefully reduced your anxiety going forward.

I am glad hear all your concerns were addressed and I will pass your kind thanks and comments on to Neil and Danielle.

I hope you are feeling better.

Best wishes,

Michael
