"Our wee baby received the best care."

About: The Ulster Hospital / Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Unit (SSPAU)

(as a parent/guardian),

I had to bring my newborn baby up to the short stay ward in children’s in the Ulster when he was just a few days old - the day after he got home from hospital.

The prospect of readmission just after getting home was very daunting and on arrival to the ward I was very hormonal, overwhelmed and sleep deprived.

The staff were all so so lovely and I knew immediately we were in good hands. The staff were so attentive and really went the extra mile. They ensured myself and my husband were well cared for as well as the baby and made sure we were kept feed and hydrated throughout.

The staff noticed how uncomfortable I was sitting on an armchair due to a few days post birth they offered a bed. Everyone was so reassuring and had such a relaxed, reassuring and friendly nature and our wee baby received the best care.

A massive thanks to all the team, especially for Bev, Nicky, Wendy, Julie and Natalie

Dear Emzcos

Thank you so much for taking the time to thank our staff. I am so glad that you had a positive experience in SSPAU. Being a new mum is an anxious and uncertain time, compounded, in your case, by a sick baby.

I'm pleased that you had some time to rest and that you felt supported, reassured and cared for - this is what we would wish.

I do hope both you and your baby are doing well and that you are able to enjoy these wonderful days with this new life.

Kind regards

Karen
