"What a fantastic team"

About: Penryn Surgery Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

Recently I was referred to Princess Alexandra's Unit at Treliske for a Hysteroscopy.  I am lucky enough to be a patient at Penryn Surgery and one of the super doctors initiated the original scan at Trevissome Park which then triggered this follow-up procedure.  Thank you to all!

This appointment was arranged with a call and letter from Donna, Hysteroscopy Booking Co-ordinator. Donna went above and beyond to respond to my concerns about having the procedure whilst suffering with sciatica. She was reassuring, kind and informative and after her reassurance, I was confident to go ahead with the procedure.

On entry to the Unit, the lady on reception booked me in and directed me to the appropriate area of the building - she too had a kind, friendly, relaxed manner which instilled immediate confidence.

I was greeted at the Unit by Amanda - a wonderful young woman - reassuring, friendly, charming and helpful and she took me through the logistics of preparation for this procedure.  She then introduced me to Qiuli, the Hysteroscopist.  Qiuli was truly marvellous, clearly explaining what the procedure entailed and answering all my queries, totally reassuring.   Amanda then took me through to the operations room where I met Helena and Yvonne.

Helena and Yvonne - two more super, friendly, kind and reassuring ladies! What a fantastic team they are and what an incredibly important job they all do.

While the procedure was taking place, all four went above and beyond to look after me at every turn!! They chatted with me throughout, to take my mind off the likelihood of any discomfort.

There was none - Qiuli did a superb job - it was as comfortable as she could possibly make it to make sure I felt all right throughout. After the procedure, she took time to explain what she had done - including the taking of a biopsy. She went through any possible after-effects and said that she would be in touch at a later stage.  Amanda then gave me copies of relevant paperwork and information sheets which clearly explained the procedure again and answers to any queries I might have.

I want to say thank you so much to all involved in my procedure.  It is very easy to take the NHS for granted - we do so at our peril!!
