"Abandoned By Mental Health"

About: Somerset NHS Foundation Trust / Adult community mental health

(as the patient),

I have been under mental health for many years for my OCD, eating disorder and BPD, until my mother died.

Then the mental health team at Glanville House discharged me from their service two months after my mother's death. I felt abandoned, especially when I needed them the most.

I have been trying for the last two years to get them to see me again, and they are refusing to even though my mental health has gone downhill and my OCD has gone in to overdrive and I am taking overdoses regularly and depressed and lonely all the time, even Social Services have abandoned me too.

Sometimes animals get better treatment than humans do!

Dear lonelygirl91,

Thank you for taking the time to post on the forum, and I am sorry that you are experiencing a challenging time with your mental health. I don't have any of your personal details to enable me to give a personalised response, however, I would suggest that you contact MIndline, our 24/7 mental health support service who can be contacted on freephone 0800 1381692, and who will be able to listen and offer support, including online support as well as face to face in one of our crisis safe space offices. I really hope that you try this and that the services are able to support you at this difficult time.

Update posted by lonelygirl91 (the patient)

I have tried Mindline and Crisis Safe Space, and they can only give me limited support. They have stated that the mental health team at Glanville House should be seeing me but they are not! My GP cannot help me as the mental health team have never informed by GP that I was discharged 2 years ago, so my GP still believes I am still under mental health, which I am quite clearly not! So I am left in limbo with no help from anyone!

So I have no support from Mental Health, Social Services and my GP.

My home is full of rubbish and is getting bad because of my OCD, My Social Worker (now my ex Social Worker) was going to arrange for it to be cleaned months ago, and that has never happened!

I need someone to take this seriously as I need help from mental health!

Thank you lonelygirl91 for responding. Unfortunately, as I don't have your details, I can't give a more personalised response - can I suggest that you contact our PALS team at PALS@somersetft.nhs.uk with some more details and they will forward your concerns onto the team at Glanville so they can look further into your concerns.
