"Great nursing Care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Day surgery Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Same Day Admissions Unit Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Theatres, Recovery and Anaesthetics

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was recently admitted to an adult short stay ward for day surgery. The admissions staff were very helpful in making the initial process so straightforward as we were quite nervous .

The student nurse was very competent and talked to my daughter to make her feel very relaxed .

The anaesthetist, Dr Docking, was very kind, taking time to explain the procedure and won my daughter's trust. The Anaesthetic nurse, Carol, came along and walked my daughter to the theatre offering much reassurance.

The nurse, Kirsten, in the recovery area was excellent. She called me when my daughter woke up. I was able to be with her in recovery area and she attended to my daughter's needs with such kindness.

My daughter was so comforted and despite feeling vulnerable she was so grateful to the nurse for putting her at ease and spending time with her so she didn’t feel scared .

The department looked super busy but the nurse didn’t complain and her smile was very reassuring.

Excellent care from everyone at Same day Ward .

Thank you

Dear humanitiescq93

Thank you for sharing your daughter's recent experience at our adult short stay ward for day surgery. We are delighted to hear that the care she received met your expectations and helped ease your nerves during what can be a stressful time.

We greatly appreciate your recognition of our admissions staff for their helpfulness in making the initial process straightforward. It is wonderful to hear that the student nurse provided competent and comforting care to your daughter.

Dr Docking, our anaesthetist, will be pleased to know that his kindness and thorough explanations helped build your daughter's trust. Similarly, Nurse Carol’s reassuring presence on the way to the theatre and Nurse Kirsten’s excellent care in the recovery area are commendable.

We will ensure that your kind words are passed on to them and the rest of the team.

Kind regards

Kevin
