. Although a worrying diagnosis, all staff I encountered from tea lady to surgeon, had the same caring manner. The ethos of these departments was very apparent no matter who was involved with me.
Communications were clear and the department always phoned back if I left a phone call.
Arrangements for radiotherapy at the Beatson Centre in Glasgow were fantastic: again, caring, patient and understanding.
To me, the Breast Cancer team should be a blueprint, best practice for other teams to follow and replicate.
My surgeon, Dr Ahmet, went beyond what he had to do with my breast surgery. He noticed a large abdominal cyst and referred me for a CT scan. An example of all round care, not just dealing with what I was there for.
I then met another fantastic Doctor: Dr Caitlin O’Neill who carried out the removal of a very large cyst and a full hysterectomy.
Her whole team again and staff on Ward 32 were caring, professional and informative. I could write a book!
However, both Doctors deserve plaudits for their care and professionalism: all done with a sense of humour as well. I felt confident in their hands: cancer didn’t seem the big scare anymore.
"I felt confident in their hands"
