"Provided constant reassurance"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

A massive shoutout and thank you to the staff of Hairmyres ED resus, specifically Alistair and Jen.

I had attended ED with my baby as advised by the pharmacist. Jen was our nurse from dayshift, Jen listened to the story about my baby, cared for him but also went over and above for myself.

Being aware that I wasn’t Jens patient, my baby was, but Jen ensured that I was okay and ensured I had sufficient support around me. Despite several other patients in the resus department one of which was an emergency.

Alistair was my baby’s nurse on nightshift. Alistair had arranged transport as we needed to attend another hospital. Alistair continued to ensure that I was okay even though my baby was his patient. Alistair brought some humour in what was a scary and stressful time for me, Alistair helped to ease that stress by providing constant reassurance.

Dear turkeyjz99,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Hairmyres, Emergency Department.

What a worrying time for you, it's such a difficult time when our little ones are unwell. I am so pleased to hear that Jen not only looked after your baby brilliantly, but also ensured you were supported and cared for you too. It is so heart warming to hear that your excellent care was continued during the nightshift by Alistair. It must have been so reassuring for you to received such excellent person centred care for both you and your baby.

I look forward to passing on your comments to both Jen and Alistair who I am sure will be very proud to hear your feedback and will get a real boost from it.

I hope your baby is feeling better now.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
