I was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth hospital on 4th July 2024 where after tests I was informed that I have Guillain-Barrè syndrome
I cannot emphasise enough, the absolutely first class care I am receiving from all the staff in medical care ward 6B whilst having the treatment for this illness.
I am now over 3 weeks into my hospital stay, all my treatment is finished and now just waiting for a transfer to rehabilitation for the intense exercises to get me back to fighting fit and back home asap. Unfortunately all beds in rehabilitation are full and there is a waiting list, I'm horrified to hear it only has 18 beds to cover the whole of the west of Scotland.
I feel that this waiting around is stopping my recovery, as well as me bed blocking as ward 6B have done everything they can. I have a lovely OT Susan who comes every couple of days to work with me but this definitely isn't enough and doesn't meet my needs.
How can this be happening in such a large hospital in 2024?
