I attended FPC with the intention of having my coil replaced due to medical issues that occur after it being inserted for more than 3 years. I have had coils in and out for a long time now and I know my body. I also have other medical professionals confirming that I need the coil to be removed in a shorter period of time than most other people.
The doctor refused to change my coil for me. They made me feel like I was being belittled and said they would not take advice from any other professionals outside of their FPC team. I asked for the coil to be removed then, without a new coil being inserted and they also refused this as the mirena is effective for most people for 8 years.
I have been on antibiotics now for 4 months because of infections that are directly related to the coil! I am now going in for a procedure in a few days due to the coil and the damage it is causing to my body! Whatever happened to listening to your patients? Patients know their body better than a text book or a time frame giving by pharmaceutical companies!
