"Fantastic care after open heart surgery"

(as a parent/guardian),

Our little girl was admitted for elective open heart surgery to close an ASD and repair pulmonary artery stenosis.

Our little one had a very difficult Christmas period where she was very ill and Carla the Cardiac nurse specialist was an amazing support contact for us and reassured us through the full journey and even visited us in ICU and ward following surgery.

Ward 1E what can I say I have never met such caring, compassionate and professional nurses, clinical support workers, students, physios, consultants, radiographers, surgeons and charge nurse Louise in all of my life. Lynn also from the play team arranged games to keep us busy and also sorted our daughter her beads of courage and molly dolly! The little things make all the difference.

All staff went over and above to make us welcome, and reassure and support us through a very difficult and worrying time.  Aimee, Grace, Rachel and Sophie are just some of the few who looked after our girl to the highest standard, promptly got dr review when her condition deteriorated, listened to all of our concerns and addressed them promptly. We cannot thank you enough. Keep up the amazing team work that you are all doing … as it shines through so brightly!

You are all stars!

We will visit you all soon, our daughter is doing great in her recovery.

Dear Outstanding care!

Thank you for sharing your heart warming story with us. We are truly touched by your kind words and are so pleased to hear that your daughter is doing well in her recovery after her recent surgery.

It is incredibly gratifying to know that our team at Ward 1E provided the care, support, and compassion that made such a challenging time more bearable for you and your family. From Carla, our Cardiac Nurse Specialist, who supported you through the journey, to the dedicated nurses, clinical support workers, students, physios, consultants, radiographers, surgeons, and Charge Nurse Louise, your feedback reflects the level of teamwork and commitment that we strive to deliver every day.

We are especially glad to hear that Lynn from the play team was able to bring some joy to your daughter during her stay, with games, the beads of courage, and Molly Dolly. It is often the small, thoughtful gestures that can make a world of difference, and we are delighted that these efforts helped your family during such a trying time.

We will make sure that Aimee, Grace, Rachel, Sophie, and the rest of the team receive your message of gratitude. Your appreciation will mean so much to them, knowing they played a part in your daughter's recovery and comfort.

Kind regards

Kevin
