"Admission to Paediatric Ward"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Daisy Paediatric Ward Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a parent/guardian),

My 1 year old son was brought in via ambulance to ED on a very busy Sunday. We were waiting at home with him unconscious for over half an hour before help arrived and then spent almost 5 hours in the emergency department.

It was such a relief when we were finally brought up to the children's Ward and my son was welcomed as if he was arriving home. Our nurse Jennifer just went out of her way to care for us and make us comfortable.

Once we were settled up on the ward I felt like everything was under control. At one point my son woke up while I wasn't there and Jennifer rocked him back to sleep.

The standard of care on the children's Ward is absolutely fantastic, even though they were very busy with lots of sick children. The auxillary and domestic staff are also fantastic. I didn't catch his name but one of the male auxiliaries is just fabulous with our son and it really just makes everything much easier.
