"I cannot fault the care I received"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Day surgery

(as the patient),

I was recently a patient at the New Victoria Hospital in Glasgow. I am usually good at being balanced and critical (as in asking questions) in order to be helpful to people and organisations however….  I cannot fault the care I received from so many practitioners from the point of arrival, pre-surgery, the surgery itself and post-operative care. Everyone in the unit deserves nothing but the highest praise. Thank you for your care, skill and dedication you marvellous people.

Oh I can think of one thing to feedback-but I’m sure these don’t originate from the Unit, ie. The sheet Eating and Drinking… Procedures contains two steps but it was not clear to me why. The blue leaflet needs updated esp the first section. I wasn’t sure if it was an error it wasn’t filled in or just / superseded by the letter, but if it had been an error, it asked to phone to confirm attendance whereas the letter asks only to phone if you cant attend.

Dear Southside Retiree

Thank you for leaving our unit a Care Opinion feedback post. Feedback from patients is always warmly received by staff. I am delighted to read that your journey as a patient while in our care was a positive one.

The words you have used to describe the staff as caring, dedicated and skilled are certainly some of the standards of care that we aim to emanate every day here in the Day surgery Unit, so I am delighted to read that you experienced this as a patient while in our care and that you were able to have a comfortable and pleasant experience.

Thank you for your feedback relating to some of the pre-operative information leaflets. The eating and drinking information contains two sets of fasting instructions depending on if you’re having your surgery in the morning or afternoon. After looking at the information myself I appreciate that this could be confusing, and I will pass on your comments to the pre-op assessment team who are responsible for providing these leaflets to patients and see if they can review this moving forwards.

I will ensure that your words of praise are shared with all of the Day Surgery team. Feedback from our patients certainly keeps the team striving to deliver best care they can every day, thank you.

Speedy recovery wishes!
