"Good care for my elderly father"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a carer),

I recently had to attend Craigavon Area Hospital ED Dept, with my elderly father, after he fell and hit his head quite badly. He is 86 and has dementia.

Despite the department being really busy at approx 4pm, we were treated with great care and attention by every staff member we encountered during our time in ED.

My father remained in ED overnight until he was transferred to a ward later the following morning, and staff ensured he was kept as comfortable as possible, and monitored and reassured regularly, as due to his dementia and head injury symptoms, he was somewhat disorientated and confused.

Thanks especially to Nurse Gemma who was particularly kind to us.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience of your father’s care in Craigavon Area Hospitals Emergency Department. The staff work extremely hard despite the pressures they face daily. It is lovely for them to hear about a patient or relatives positive experience. I will share your experience with the team and to Gemma. I hope your father is recovering well.

Stacey
