"Exemplary Care"

About: Gynaecology / Obstetric & Gynaecology Ultrasound Maternity care / Antenatal and Postnatal (Ward 38) Maternity care / Community Midwifery Unit Maternity care / Labour Suite

(as the patient),

Hello,

I just wanted to send a message to thank all the wonderful staff that were involved in our care before, during and after the birth of our son.

Things were not as plain sailing with my pregnancy and post natal period this time round, however, most of the staff I came into contact with could not have been more empathetic, respectful and most importantly genuinely caring. I'd like to thank some specifically for their exemplary care given as I felt they really stood out.

Firstly, thank you to the various sonographers that scanned me - you were all so friendly and made me feel reassured and at ease.

My community midwife, Jess and student midwife, Holly, for looking after me so well throughout my pregnancy.

Thank you to Patrice and Becky in the DMU for such a special birth experience. You were both so calm and reassuring. Patrice was also my community midwife in the beginning and then delivered my baby boy and looked after me in Ward 38 too, which was really nice to have that continuation of care. She really goes the extra mile. Her patience, kindness and attentive nature shines in all she does and I honestly cannot thank her enough.

Tanya and Rachel in the Labour Suite, after I was transferred up from the DMU. I felt instantly at ease and well looked after with them. Tanya had not long converted from adult nursing but she was a fabulous midwife and was knowledgeable and compassionate at such a scary time for us.

Chelsea, Logan and Susan (midwives) and Roz (maternity care assistant) in Ward 38 who honestly couldn't do enough for me and my boy during our stay on the ward. They were knowledgeable, empathetic and respectful to me and my boy. They really went above and beyond and for this I am so grateful.

Angie, Heather, and Ashley (healthcare assistants), who were so kind and caring, always came in with a smile and made sure I had icy water (which was a godsend). They made it feel that little bit more like home.

I hope these staff members see this and know how grateful I am. All of you played a special part in my maternity stay and you are all a credit to the midwifery team. Thank you all again, we really can't express how grateful we are!
