"Blood Test/Phlebotomy Outpatients"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

Doing blood tests has always been difficult for me. I have a phobia about it, begun in childhood, and in recent years my veins have become difficult to access for blood testing.

I had to do a test recently. I told Nima the phlebotomist of my background. She enabled me to lie down for the test and used a small needle. I hardly felt the needle, the test was over quickly and she insisted I remain lying down for a few minutes until I was sure I was OK.
