I saw the Diabetes nurse, Gareth. He really sounds as if he does care. I'm interested in how he keeps a check on my health.
I have had Diabetes for 15-20 years now, but due to my Diabetes getting worse, I was referred to Gareth by my GP.
Gareth was quick to get a personal rapport with me. He had my notes and we went through them together. I have been doing the finger prick test whenever I felt like it, and the medical practice would then review this. However, since seeing Gareth, he initially asked me to do it once a day, every day, and then plot the results on a spreadsheet. We then increased the testing to twice a day, and now I am doing it 4 times a day, and the results produce a chart for me. I have also been monitoring my diet too which has helped me to recognise why my blood glucose has been low on occasion.
This level of personal attention, and clear explanation is very reassuring and highly commendable.
Gareth has also put me in touch with a Dietician to support me.
The service has been great.
