"A better pathway of contact and treatment"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Gastroenterology

(as a service user),

I feel that the service is not meeting the IBD standards or serving the patients of Ayrshire and Arran at all, I feel I am being let down.

There hasn't been a point of contact. No outpatient contact with gastroenterologist or clinics, leaving patients to deteriorate until they need to be hospitalised.

I think there needs to be an IBD nurse/nurses to take pressure off of the staff who work on the gastro ward as they are being far too overstretched, and I need to be heard and treated properly, as IBD is a lifelong condition that can be progressive and super aggressive and disabling.

I don't think the services are suitable, yet continue to run understaffed and are unfit for patients.

I believe Ayr hospital's gastro ward and outpatients with IBD should have access to a specialised nurse and a specialised dietetic practitioner who can treat complex cases with gastro conditions and complex IBD.

I feel I have been totally failed by your system and it’s not on. I deserve to be treated properly, fairly and like an individual, not just a number.

I would like more specialist staff and a better pathway of contact and treatment so I can be as well as possible.
