"All the staff were great"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

I received investigation & treatment for a fractured bone here rather than going through the usual route ED.

As someone who loathes the environment of an ED dept, the Phone First experience was a lot less stressful & faster than that route.

All the staff were great, from Nicole right at the beginning & throughout. I’m very grateful for this service and the staff who run it.

Update posted by AD2022 (a service user)

I was delighted to receive the follow up call today from the fracture clinic. The nurse was caring & reassuring, explaining everything very well.

Advice about current care, what to expect & what to do if the situation worsens. So thank you to all the staff who are delivering this care.

AD2022,

I’m John Barron, Service Manager for Urgent and Emergency Care.

It’s really great to hear how the Phone First Service guided you straight to the best place. The Phone First Team do a fantastic job directing callers towards the most appropriate service - and a much better outcome. Sometimes the best place is ED but, as you’ve experienced, a quick call meant you got to the best service for your particular needs.

Unless it’s an emergency, I’d encourage everyone to “Phone First” before making the decision come to ED.

I wish you a speedy recovery.

John
