Both myself and my husband have had one doctors appointment at this new to us practice since registering with them.
My husband has not been to the doctors for years as like so many men he avoids health matters if possible
I note this as it is pertinent to this review
After reluctantly attending an appointment with the doctor he left after it feeling extremely agitated and berated
He now doesn’t want to see said doctor again and the appointment has just exasperated his lack of confidence with the seeking of medical advice
I very recently attended an appointment with the same doctor and experienced first hand what I can only describe as an approach that was very blunt and not easy to respond to!
I did voice my feelings and due respect to the doctor he spent time reassuring me that he meant no ill intentions by his manner and we cleared the air and I left on good terms with him
His advice and treatment was very thorough and I feel as though he is addressing all of my symptoms to try to eliminate the problems I’m having
I just feel that a little more empathy and less abruptness would go a long way in making patients feel more at ease …..especially patients like my husband who are reluctant in the first place to attend They are the people that need encouragement to seek advice when it’s needed…..instead this has put him straight back to square one where he no way wants to attend appointments again!
I appreciate doctors are busy people and just need to ‘get on with it ‘ but we all need treating as individuals and not just patients to be seen and dispatched!
