"Signature permission"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Dermatology

(as a parent/guardian),

My GP and local hospital required a signature from my son to enable me to book an appointment/emergency consultation.  I sent a photo of a statement to the GP and this seemed to be accepted.  On contacting Monklands hospital I was requested to send the statement to their Legal Dept.

On trying to access Monklands to book an appointment the records hadn't been updated and that I had to contact Legal again.

Unfortunately no one answers the phone and the mail box is full.

My son is in need on an emergency appointment as the  Dermatology Dept has a 20 week waiting list.  Which will be detrimental to his mental, physical health.  I have contacted my local councillor to assist.

Dear Karen582

I'm sorry that you are finding it so difficult to make an appointment for your son. Based on your comments above, it would be helpful if your GP was to make an urgent referral if they feel that is what is required, noting the reasons for this.

If you have other questions about the process with the legal department, please contact our Patient Affairs team though the Monklands Hospital Switchboard on 01236 748748.

I hope that is helpful.

Kind regards

Nichola

Update posted by Karen582 (a parent/guardian)

The GP did make an urgent referral and suggested we phone the dept and request a cancellation due to our son's deterioration. That is when we were requested to send statement to legal.... Our local GP had received the exact same statement and it was on his records really quickly.

Thank you for your quick response.

Dear Karen582

I wonder if you would mind contacting me directly, through the University Hospital Monklands switchboard on 01236 748748 so that I can take a few more details from you, and look into the situation further?

Many thanks

Nichola
