I gave birth to my little girl in November 2024. From arriving at maternity triage at 3:30am until being discharged later that day at 9:30pm, the care we all received was fantastic.
From the initial telephone calls to triage, then the staff delivering or supporting in delivery, to the care on the postnatal ward, everything was fantastic.
In particular, midwife Emma Miller who delivered our baby (and stayed beyond her shift ended to do so) was amazing and I can’t thank her enough for all of her support and calm nature when things all happened very quickly. Emma was fantastic and I am so grateful. Additionally, midwife Fran Stephen who took over from Emma and ensured myself, my husband and our baby were well-looked afterwards deserves our thanks. Fran explained everything she was doing and we appreciate her attentiveness and kind nature.
We were also fortunate to have a student midwife (Shannon) during the birth, again she stayed beyond her shift finished to offer support. Shannon will make a wonderful midwife and it was a pleasure to have her in the room. Another student midwife (Jessica) joined later on and, again, she was wonderful. We feel so lucky that we had such amazing staff supporting us throughout the labour and birth, which only took around 4 hours from arriving at triage. I didn’t manage to process the names of the staff in triage, but they were also very kind, attentive and caring.
Various staff supported on the postnatal ward. In particular, our thanks go to midwife Louise who helped with settling our baby when I became overwhelmed. Again, all of the staff were lovely and made us feel very supported. I am sorry I cannot remember all of their names.
The birth was fairly quick and straightforward, with only a few little challenges, but we had fantastic, knowledgeable and dedicated staff who explained the full process and looked after us beautifully. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made the birth such a positive experience.
"Everything was fantastic"
