"Exceptional Care"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Accidents & Emergency Antrim Area Hospital / Ward A2 Paediatrics Antrim Area Hospital / X-Ray Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I took my young  daughter to A&E after a fall from a height. Upon arrival to the main A&E I did wonder had I made a mistake as it was absolutely bursting at the seams.

Thankfully, within the space of 5 minutes we were triaged by a lovely nurse, Megan, and sent to the paediatric waiting area. Within another 15-20 minutes we were seen by the doctor who referred my daughter for an X-ray. I believe his name was Dr McKee (apologies if this is inaccurate) and I can honestly say I have never had the pleasure of meeting and dealing with such a wonderful doctor. The way in which he dealt with my daughter was exceptional, his mannerisms and personality shone through in his genuine care for helping. He was made to be a paediatric doctor.

My daughter was then X-Rayed after a short wait and we returned to the doctor. He had had to accompany her to her X-ray as I am pregnant and was unable to do so and even the fact he done this made me like him even more. An absolute credit this man is to the NHSCT and I am so thankful we were under his care. A wonderful human being who just made a stressful and worrying situation seem like a breeze. A huge thank you!

Dear fiona88

My name is Peter Johnston and I am the lead nurse for Acute Paediatric Nursing in the Trust. I am delighted to read of your positive experience in Antrim ED in what has been an extremely busy period.

I will pass on your kind thoughts personally to both Meghan and Dr McKee. I know that they will appreciate your thanks and the time taken to make them, such compliments really do make a difference to staff in their work.

I hope that your daughter is now fully recovered and again thank you for using care opinion

Good afternoon fiona88,

I would first like thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the NHSCT Radiology Department at Antrim Hospital. As an organisation we are committed to consistently showing compassion, professionalism and respect for the patients we care for, so it was reassuring to learn of the care provided by our team.

I will be sure to share your feedback with the Radiology staff who supported you on the day and I am sure they will be very grateful of your kind words.

Best wishes on your journey to recovery.

Laura
