My uncle was admitted to ward 57 at the QEUH he had suffered a stroke and was left extremely poorly.
Prior to this he spent several days on ward 62 were I could fault the staff.
When he was moved over it was a really unpleasant and uncomfortable situation for myself and my uncle. The staff did not know we were coming and could here staff saying they didn’t know he was coming which left my uncle feeling embarrassed.
The communication between the team was not good. Every time I called to speak with the senior member of staff, I was told they were not on the ward and would call back, which never happened.
My uncle also required assistance to eat his meals which were constantly left to get cold and his nutrition has suffered due to this. I feel for patients who have a stroke which is life changing and experience the same experience as what my uncle did.
These wards need looked into and things need to change. There was only one pleasant staff member that I came across, the others, even the senior member of staff would run pass me and ignore me.
"Lack of communication and assistance"
