"The amazing care given to my papa"

About: Kilbryde Hospice / Inpatient Care

(as a relative),

To all the angels who work at Kilbryde Hospice,

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who provided the most incredible care to not only my papa as a patient, but my gran and the rest of my family as visitors during the past 3 months. From the volunteers at the café to the nurses who cared for my papa, you are truly special, special people. Your ability to comfort, support, and bring peace at the most difficult time in our lives will never go unnoticed.

The hospice is nothing like I ever would have expected. It’s such a happy, loving, welcoming place and this reflected on how my papa felt during his time there. My gran received complimentary therapies and us as visitors were offered complimentary teas, coffees, toast, soup and my mum even got taken for her hair done! This all goes to show that the care of the patient’s family is just as important to the staff. My papa was offered any food he wanted and when he wanted it. Nothing was ever a bother for the lovely nurses, even right up to the final moments.

I just can’t thank everyone at Kilbryde Hospice enough for everything that they done for my papa and for my family.

Dear Foxy7

First, may I thank you very much for posting such a wonderfully positive story on Care Opinion. As Clinical Services Director at Kilbryde Hospice it is very reassuring for me to hear that your Papa received incredible care. We got to know your Papa, your Gran and the extended family well over the past few months and it was a pleasure for us to care for the entire family.

At Kilbryde our main aim is to deliver person-centred care and it sounds as though all members of the staff and volunteer team undertook this. I am delighted that the staff and volunteer team looked after the little things too as they are just as vital. The cups of tea, the bowls of soup and the hair cut just when it was needed. It sounds as though these were important to you as a family and they are important to me too. That's what Kilbryde does.

Foxy7 I will make sure the staff and volunteer team are aware of your kind words as this will give them all a boost. Please take care of yourself in the coming days, weeks and months and if we can do anything for you in the future please do not hesitate to contact me at the hospice.

Kind regards

Margaret Mary
