Once I was diagnosed with two tumours, within two weeks, I was admitted as a day patient and had the operation to remove the two tumours. The medical staff involved were extremely professional, kind, caring and considerate.
I arrived at Grantham Hospital at 07:30 and walking through the corridors of the hospital to the ward, I have to admit to shedding a few tears. I have never had to deal with a potential cancer issue before. By 13:10 I was in having anaesthesia administered. I had been calm all morning and this did not change for the rest of the day. I recovered from the anaesthesia at about 15:30 and was being engaged in conversation by a very pleasant nurse. He even accommodated me when I started talking French to him as his name was French (or so I believed). Once back on the ward, I had a drain attached to my catheter to drain out the Chemo therapy compound. From then, a couple of urinations and an ultrasound and I was good to go. I was home by about 17:30 and being cared for by my loving wife.
I can’t thank the staff involved with my operation enough as they all made me calm and comfortable. I even received a call from one of the nurses at home the next day to check that I was continuing to recuperate. Thank you Grantham Hospital.
