"Great Caring Service from Hospital Porter"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

My mum has had a few hospital stays this year at IRH. She is in her 80s and has dementia so it’s been very worrying for our family.

While she was in A&E  a porter stopped and said hello to her and was very nice. He said he worked up on wards before and remembers her as a lovely lady. He was so nice to her and us. He totally changed her mood.

She was getting out, and the same porter, named Jason, saw us struggling with the wheelchair and came over and helped us and chatted to my mum. He actually helped us get her right in to my sister's car and he was absolutely brilliant. This guy went above and beyond as we weren’t even getting assistance. He just helped us to be nice.

It made everything easier as my mum can get very confused and scared in different surroundings and struggles following instructions, but he was brilliant and so caring and understanding with her!  Please pass on our thanks to him.

Dear Lynne582

How lovely to read your lovely words about the kindness of one of our hospital porters. We are most fortunate to have a great portering team here at IRH and each and everyone of them do an amazing job. I am sure Jason will be delighted to know that his act of kindness has had a memorable impact on you and your mum.

I hope your mum is recovering well at home and that you both have a lovely Christmas.

Kind regards

Alison McKinnon
