"Not receiving NHS benefit"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Renal (Ward 1)

(as a service user),

I am a patient on home kidney dialysis. I used to be under the care of the Renal Department in Ninewells hospital. At the end of January I moved to Hamilton in South Lanarkshire and am now under the care of the Renal Department at Monklands Hospital.

When I was with Ninewells I received money every couple of months (it might have been every 3 months) from the NHS towards my energy costs because I run a dialysis machine for approximately 9-10 hours a night at home.

Staff at Monklands Hospital have tried to chase up this NHS benefit but with little success. I understand this is an NHS Scotland wide benefit. As a patient, I would like to know why I haven’t received it since moving to Lanarkshire.

Dear Standup,

I'm sorry to hear that you have been unable to receive the financial assistance that you previously received. Might I suggest contacting Ninewells renal department, if you have not done so already, to find out exactly the source of the benefits you previously received and failing that or as well as, seeking advice through Financial support | Kidney Care UK?

I hope you are able to access the help that you need to support your ongoing treatment.

Kind regards,

Christine
