"Not polite or helpful"

About: Nightingale Hospital Exeter

(as a service user),

I checked in at the front desk and was told to follow the black line to the relevant waiting area. I walked past another staff member sat behind a computer and said good morning. They asked if I had checked in. I said yes I had spoken to the person at the front entrance. They directed me to take a seat. I waited for 20 minutes  and then went back out to the 2nd person to enquire if there would be much more of a wait. It then became apparent that I needed to have checked in again with them. At no point had they or the first receptionist explained this. I pointed out that it would have been helpful if they had told me this when I had spoken to them earlier. I felt their response to me was rude and I don’t think they should have a patient facing role if they can’t be polite and helpful.

Dear zebrabr96,

My name is Helen and I am one of the managers at the Nightingale hospital.

Thank you so much for your feedback and I am so sorry that you did not have a positive experience with our reception team.

If you would like to give me any further information or any names of the staff then please get in touch via rduh.nightingaleexeterenquiries@nhs.net and we will look at discussing with the individuals. Alternatively if you do not want to give names then we will still raise with the team as a whole.

Many thanks,

Helen Bowmer

Admin Services Manager
