"It is so nerve wracking sitting waiting and wondering"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

Wonderful staff, so attentive friendly and kind. Couldn’t do enough from the receptionist to the nurses, anaethsitis and to the surgeon.

Only criticism would be. If they could advise you at certain points where you are in the queue for the op. I arrived at 11am but wasn’t taken until later in the afternoon. It is so nerve wracking sitting waiting and wondering when you will be taken. I was the last patient to go for the op and if I had been advised about that I could have settled but as it was I just got more and more anxious.

Dear Elliebx25,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on your recent experience when attending UHH. I'm sorry to hear that your anxiety was increased by the lack of information provided during your wait for surgery. As a unit we strive to provide all patients with information as and when we have it and I apologise that on this occassion we did not provide that reassurance for you throughout your wait. I'll reinforce the importance of this to the team.

I appreciate your lovely comments on the teams who cared for you and I will pass this on to all involved.

Best wishes with your recovery

Pauline
