"Support and and Assistance"

About: Adult Health Services / Macmillan Improving the Cancer Journey North Lanarkshire

(as a service user),

Found myself in the unfortunate position of being diagnosed with cancer and having a relationship break up leaving me homeless.

Having never been in either position, My MacMillan nurse was able to advise and sign post me to the relevant services.

They were able to communicate and advocate on my behalf which I found extremely helpful, as being in pain and having little energy was difficult to deal with.

They were also able to make all the necessary phonecalls and gather information I required for funding and support, which at the time I was unable to do.

My MacMillan nurse was always there to answer my calls and any questions I had in what was an extremely stressful situation. They always had time to listen and understand and were able to provide a sense of clarity to what seemed an impossible endless position to be in. My living situation and funding have now been resolved thanks to my MacMillan nurse and I can now just concentrate fully on getting stronger.
