"No opportunity for refreshments"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Sent for a scan, X-ray etc from GP Surgery owing to a high temperature and shortness of breath.

As expected on arrival at 10.30am the waiting room was overflowing, triaged within a reasonable time but back to waiting room until finally called by Doctor at 5 hours later.

Within that timeframe there was no opportunity owing to lack of facilities to obtain a drink of any description.  This waiting area needs a water cooler plus tea and coffee making machines, especially for people who can not make the journey to the main reception area.

Thank you for sharing your recent experience of the Emergency Department at Craigavon Area Hospital.

The main foyer has a coffee shop which is open from 8am until 7pm. The Shop is also available throughout the day. For the out of hours period there is a vending machine and tea/coffee machine. The vending machine is restocked daily.

I understand that for patients with reduced mobility it may be difficult to walk out to the foyer but staff are more than willing if you ask they could help you.

Obviously my message has not been read correctly as I was speaking about Daisy Hill hospital and not Craigavon which has excellent facilities compared to Newry
