"Quick testing and reassurance"

About: Inclusion Recovery Hampshire / P2P team

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I was treated for Hep C in the past but only took part of the treatment.

I've been living in fear, thinking I've had Hep C and have been avoiding family out of fear of giving it to them.

Alan called me, out of the blue, and had a discussion about Hep C and testing. After speaking with him and telling him that I was really worried, he told me that he had spoken with the hospital that treated me. He explained that a blood test that was done whilst I was in hospital in February, came back negative.

Alan agreed to come and see me to repeat a test, as I was still worried. He came to see me in a van that same day and did a blood test. We had a really good chat and he did his best to try and reassure me. He called me back with the results a few hours later and confirmed I do not have Hep C!I can't thank him enough for coming to see me and do a test so quickly.

Dear Aladm69,

Thank you for taking the time to share about your experience with P2P.

I’m glad that we were able to support you, and that your test has given you some reassurance and provided you with some answers.

Please do get in touch if there is anything else we can support you with in the future.

Regards,

Alan Howard - P2P Coordinator
