"My admission"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C7 Haematology/Renal

(as a service user),

Felt quite disgusted. Put into a room (procedure room) very limited access to shower facilities and had to walk up to a toilet at the end of the corridor to use it. I feel embarrassed.

I requested a room with the toilet and shower as one or two patients had been discharged but I was told it's was only the place of patient flow to deal with this and not the job of the ward managers .

I also felt forced into getting a blood transfusion done, and I didn't want one due to my transplant as I could end up with antibodies and reject my transplant.  It is the same with the contrast dye that I explained to both radiographers but felt I was not listened to.

What is going on here?

Hello my name is Lauren Henry, I am the clinical services manager responsible for ward C7. I am very sorry to learn of your recent experience in ward C7 specifically in the procedure room. I apologise for your experience and this room is used to prevent long waits in the emergency department and not ideal for patients. I am also sorry for the conversation you had with staff around the room.

I am keen to take a call from you to listen further to your concerns, appreciate if you would email to lauren.henry@northerntrust.hscni.net with your telephone number and I will make contact.

warmest wishes

Lauren Henry
