"PD speech issues"

About: Countywide Community Care Service Delivery Unit / Adult Speech and Language Therapy Countywide Community Care Service Delivery Unit / Integrated Neurology Service

(as the patient),

I started having speech difficulty towards the end of 2023 - typically when i was tired or fatigued.

It left me feeling embarrassed, upset and depressed.

My Neurology specialist thought I might have had motor neurone disease, which came as a complete shock. I had to stop working due to stress.

I started speech therapy at Malvern, the technical information and support from my therapist has been amazing, really life changing.

It turns out I have Parkinsons Disease and through medication and speech therapy, I have returned to work and coping much better, more confident and making a difference every day.
